Nike’s Kobe line has a fascinating thread of soccer-cleat–inspired colorways, rooted in Bryant’s love for football. The Nike Kobe 4 was originally designed with a low-cut profile modeled after soccer cleats, bringing agility and speed to the court. The Swoosh’s Soccer division has also borrowed style from the Kobe team, using the fan-favorite “Grinch” colorway on a pair of the VaporEdge cleats. In 2010, the Nike Kobe 6 released in a “MambaCurial” color scheme, which pulled bright colors and branding elements from the Mercurial line. This theme was repeated through several of Bryant’s signature models, including the 2013 Kobe 8.
